Visiting the Family Room
Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Gold Coast University Hospital’s Newborn Care Unit.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while you have an infant receiving treatment in the Newborn Care Unit at the Gold Coast University Hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you’ll find a kitchen stocked with essential items, bathroom and laundry amenities with complimentary toiletry packs for resident parents, a cosy lounge with a TV, computer and internet facilities and a children’s play space with toys and activities.

Our Team
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is managed by our RMHC South East Queensland Gold Coast Coordinator and run by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Eligibility
We want to make sure parents of newborn babies needing extra care have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families with infants being treated or monitored in the Newborn Care Unit at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Our two emergency overnight accommodation rooms are available to families when approved by the Nurse Unit Manager.
Fees
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a space away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.

Family Room Programs
Every year RMHC SEQ must raise the funds needed to provide the accommodation and support services that we give to seriously ill or injured children and their families. We are very grateful to receive support from members of the community who, together with our corporate partners generously donate funds, goods and services to our charity.
