Families living in rural or remote NSW, whose children suffer or have suffered serious illness, often have to make long, tiring and sometimes expensive journeys to city hospitals.

To lessen the burden, Ronald McDonald House Charities has partnered with Royal Far West to launch the first Australian Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, bringing mobile healthcare to rural and remote areas of NSW.

Utilised by teams of Royal Far West clinicians, the 12-metre long Care Mobile is fitted with two consulting rooms and provides a range of health care services including paediatrics, speech therapy, dietetics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychiatry and social work. Video conferencing and other technologies will also be incorporated.

To access this mobile care facility patients and their families can be referred through to Royal Far West's Manly-based service, while the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile itself is administered from Ronald McDonald House Orange.
