Visiting the Family Room
Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Canberra.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a haven for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child or newborn infant in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you can take time out with free beverages and refreshments, a TV, lounge, a quiet space for reading and relaxing and a bathroom with a shower for freshening up. Our Family Room provides convenient on-site laundry facilities, as well as a library of children’s games and activities.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is run by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Eligibility
We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families whose children are undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment at The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, including families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Care Nursery units.
Fees
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a haven away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.

Ronald McDonald Family Room is located in The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, inside the Paediatric Ward on Level 1. You will find our entrance directly opposite the Medical Ward.

Family Room Facilities
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where there is a kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. For the comfort of our families, we have a cosy lounge area as well as space for the kids to play.
Kitchenette
We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette with a microwave and a supply of tea, coffee and basic essentials, a fridge for storing your own food and a microwave for heating up meals.
Bathroom and Laundry facilities
Our bathroom includes a shower and toiletries for freshening up as well as a fully-equipped laundry with complimentary laundry powder.
Play area
We hope our library of games and activities to help keep the children occupied will assist to make your family’s time in hospital that little bit easier.
Weekly meals program
On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings our volunteers provide a light dinner free to any families present. Please contact us if you’d like to know approximately when meals will be served.

Make a donation

Volunteering
