Visiting the Family Room
Take a break together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room offers respite for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our Family Room, where you’ll find full kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, a comfortable lounge and dining area as well as two quiet bedrooms for catching up on sleep.
Eligibility
We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the Hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Room is free and open to all families whose children are undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Fees
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a space away from the wards to relax and simply be together. If you would like to offer support or make a donation of goods to our Family Room, please contact our House.

Family Room Facilities
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while visiting or staying with a child in hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where there is a kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. For the comfort of our families, we have a cosy lounge area, two quiet rooms for rest and relaxation, as well as space for the kids to play. By giving your kids some much needed space to play, we’re making the time your family spends in hospital just that little bit easier.
Kitchenette
We’ve made our Family Room as homely as possible. That’s why you’ll find a kitchenette with a microwave and a supply of tea, coffee and basic essentials, a fridge for storing your own food and a microwave for heating up meals.
Lounge and Dining area
Sit at our dining table enjoying a freshly baked slice of cake or muffin made with love by our volunteers or read a book on our cosy lounge – we love visitors, that’s why we are here!
Bathroom and Laundry facilities
Our bathroom includes a shower and toiletries for freshening up as well as a fully-equipped laundry with complimentary laundry powder.
Quiet Room
Our quiet room lets you catch up on sleep or spend some time in quiet reflection.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms rely on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations.

Make a donation
As an individual, a group or corporate sponsor, you can assist through regular or one-off donations of money, goods or services, by sponsoring a room, or by organising or attending a fundraising event.
